My first Interview
I'm so excited because I was able to do my first interview last week. It went really smoothly and only lasted a half an hour. The part that stinks is that it took me 3 hours to type to following transcript. But its done now so at least I feel as though I accomplished something.
Yester we went up Doi Suthep again. All the students hiked bu tme because my knee is quite there yet. I was all alone riding in the back of a taxi listening to my MP3. When we got to the top I had to wait about 45 minutes for the students to arrive so I bought some vendor food and parked myself on a bench listening to my music and just people watching. While sitting there four different groups of people came up to me and asked to take a picture with me. It was very unexpected and everyone kept telling me that apparently I look alot like Miss Universe. One of my Thai friends last year told me this all the time but I never actually believed him.
Anyways, I was able to make a new friend who is a tour guide and she and I exchanged numbers to hang out in Chiang Mai. I talked to a couple whose daughter goes to CMU and learned alot from them. And I was able to practice my Thai which was awesome.
Now I finally know what it feels like to be a monk when all the foreigners ask to take pictures of them....very awkward.
We got our two hour massage last night which was awesome and then some friends and out splurged and went out for Italian food which was really quite excellent.
All the students move in with their host families today and teh students wil begin their internships tomorrow.
It was really cool on Friday because when I went to my intership, instead of teaching (because it was only me last week) we went up Doi Suthep (me and my monk supervisor and his friend from another province).
So I got to walk around the temple with the monks and help tourists get the courage to ask them questions. It was alot of fun and I got to gain a new perspective about the temple from their point of view.
