I forgot about the talent show...

While the students and I were in the vilage, we decided to have a talent show. Now, everyone kept asking me to sing but singing in front of people by myself is usually not my scene. Granted I had to do it a lot for my monk students but I was trying to avoid it in the village. So what was I going to do for the talent show...

So my professor and I had decided to do a duet with her playing the guitar but that seemed kinda lame and boring so I got creative. We had a song book and one of the songs in the book was the old favorite "Lean on Me." I decided that I would sing this song for the group. However, I was going to hide behind a curtain and my friend Nate was going to mouth my words in front of the group.

The great thing about Nate is he is a really big nerd, he's creative, and he's goofy. We ran through the song once just to make sure that he could mouth it and basically he said he was going to wing it and I wouldn't be able to see anything because I would be behind the curtain. I wasn't worried though because I figured whatever he would do would be funny.

So I hid behind the curtain and sang the song. I would make some notes really long because he said he wanted to do some Maria Carey like moves or something but all I could hear was laughing and I couldn't see anything. My friend Hannah video taped it for me.

When i saw the video Nate was all over the place. He had interpretive dance moves, the jaw shaking movements, hand motions, and he even laid on the floor on his back like he was doing a backstroke singing. Basicaly, it was beyond hilarious and a huge success.

I'll be bringing the video when I come home if anyone is interested in watching it.
