Great News

Well Shawn went back to America with his mom last week and both are exhausted but doing really well. I finished my paper the other day and am just working on correcting it and making sure I have included everything. The paper itself is 53 pages but with the appendixes I've added its about 110. That will hopefully be the longest thing I write in my life.

This weekend on Saturday myself and two friends brought pizza to one of our monk friends and the other monks at his temple. Then Hannah and I went to Wat Suan Dok to observe a Buddhist holiday and the ceremony that they do that day. It was really interesting to watch because a large group of people hold candles, flowers, and incense and walk around the stupa together 3 times.

On Sunday we went to church and then to the zoo with 3 of our other monk friends and 5 american students. It was soooo hot but we had a lot of fun taking pictures and joking together.

Right now I am working on joining th esociology national honor society and I will be applying over spring break to be a Boyer scholar at Messiah. Its just a cool thing to apply for which is why I am doing it and I am one of the 20 eligible students from our class.

This next week is our last week in Chiang Mai. On the 13 we will begin our tour to Bangkok and I'll make sure to take pictures of the monkey hotel. (if anyone wants to see pics from last year, I have two orange photo albums in my room that my mom or dad can bring Easter weekend, just remind them)

Then on the 19 myself and Christina will fly back to Chiang Mai where I will be spending my spring break. We go to the village March 27 so from that day until April 27 I won't have e-mail but you should still be able to call my cell phone.

The funny story I have is yesterday at the temple a man came up to me who has a slight mental disorder due to a motorcycle accident. He looks right at me and says "Ploy, you're eye beautiful." Then he looked at my friend Hannah and we were expecting him to say a compliment to her but instead he said "Yim (her nickname) aren't Ploy's eye beautiful." It was so funny because we wer enot expecting that. Then whenever I am there he tries to shake hands with me 2 or 3 times so when my monk friend Gabe sees he coming he always tells him not to shake hands. But as soon as Gabe leaves Dan sneaks over and shakes hands with us and when Gabe comes back, he runs away. Its quite humorous to watch and it makes me laugh everytime.
