rotee

Lets see....whats been going on. Well last night after our internship, my friend Christina and I met up and walked to a food market. I bought sticky rice, grilled pork, and corn. We got some rotee which let me just say is the best desert besides sticky rice and mangos. Rotee is an Indian food and usually made by vendors on the streets of Chiang Mai. They are normally Muslim and most likely Indian descent. Anyways, its dough cooked but not like fried dough. They put bananas and sweetened condensed milk in it, fold it up, cut it up, and put it in a box for you to eat. Its super bad for you but so good you have to have it at least once a week. I love it!

Anyways, yesterday was my third day at the university with the rest of the students. It was interesting yesterday because we helped with a freshman English major class. My group consists of four students but they could barely speak any English so when I tried to explain English words in English, they really had no idea what I was saying so my goal is just to teach them to understand and speak some English over the semester and worry a little less about smooth sounding grammar.

During my Thai classes I end up speaking in Thai for about an hour and a half with my professor. Its been really helpful and my Thai is getting better which is awesome bceause now I can speak with the monks in some Thai and help the other students out.

I will be calling my host family this weekend when I actually have free time to hang out. I have two more interviews on Friday and hopefully I'll be starting my paper next week.

I just want to quickly say hi to my friends at messiah (yes like a shout out...) because I miss all of you sooooo much!

I didn't have a funny stories recently after the whole picture taking thing but I'll make sure to keep you all informed.

PS I bought soy milk in juice boxes and drank two boxes before I realized that they had expired over a month ago. Now my stomach is made of iron.

Amy
