The flower festival

On saturday we went to the flower parade and saw these amazingly intricate floats of various Thai flowers. They were so gorgeous. There were marching bands and people in their tribal outfits, girls and guys in traditional Thai outfits and so forth. Its really beautiful and a much more colorful parade in comparison to parades back home.

In the parade there are sooo many beautiful falwless Thai women dressed in traditional outfits. Its like people from the movies or something. However int he parade there was one point where I did a double take and was like what?? There was this taller and wider foreigner covered in tatoos with long dirty blonde dreds and face piercings wearing a tradtional Thai outfit riding in one of those people carts pulled by people waving in the parade. It was hilarious to see her with all this chiang mai women looking beautiful and her looking really ridiculous and out of place. The Thai people loved it. After my initial schock, I couldn't stop laughing.

So anyways yesterday I went to walking stree or Thanon Kohn Durn. Its a sunday market where they block off the roads and you can buy food, souvenirs, anything really for better prices than at the mall. I love walking and people watching there because everything is so alive. The only bad part is I hate shopping at hoem but I love shopping here. My friend Christina and I go to seven eleven (not that that counts as a market) everyday to get food or little "necessities" that we don't really need. We love going to markets or food stores to buy anything that catches our eye.

So far I've done really well not shopping until this weekend when I had a breakdown. But now I'm back on track so no worries.

My paper will start this week! Yeah!
