Dengue Fever

Stop Global Warming: Don't use plastic bags
Rainbow at the mall next to my apartment
You may have been wondering about my silence for the past week....I cuahgt Dengue Fever. After going to the hospital last Friday because my fever hadn't broke, I was given antibiotics and told to take Tylenol. Well all weekend I was sick with a high fever but over-achieving me decided I should teach class on Monday anyways so my students wouldn't get behind. After teaching Monday I nearly fainted in my apartment and went back to the hospital Monday night. I had all the symptoms for Dengue Fever which is a 7 day fever that comes with a read rash and possible internal bleeding. The scariest part of it is if you go into shock you could die. So I stayed at the hospital for 4 days and rested all weekend. Today I am going back to class but we have holidays this week so I'm only teaching 2 days.
The photo at the top of the man with the red background was taken at Walking Street. It was an apron with a Cuban rebel on it giving advice to stop global warming and not to use plastic bags. I laughed out loud. Thailand is on a big "Stop Global Warming" kick so you can find almost anyone on T-shirts saying to stop global warming. The slogan is on shoes, shirts, bags, even in the bathroom at CMU. Its a pretty big deal.
The second photo was taken after it downpoured around 5:30 Sunday afternoon. Its still the rainy season here so it rains pretty unexpectedly and yesterday I got soaked. However, at the end was the rainbow which wasn't so bad.
