Camping at Doi Inthanon

We have a lot of holidays this week which means that I don't have to work Wednesday-Sunday. I did hold a make-up class Wednesday morning and surprisingly almost all my students came. In addition to teaching, my friend and I wanted to do something fun with our free time so we thought we would go camping at Doi Inthanon. I've mentioned it before; its the waterfall/national park place which is really beautiful. They have cabins which you can rent for $10/night and a lot to see like caves, waterfalls, tribal villages, etc. http://www.chiangmai-chiangrai.com/doi_inthanon_camping.html

It was almost the best trip ever. We took a yellow taxi (go farther distances than red taxis) to a place called Chom Tong which is about 1.5 hours from Chiang Mai. Then, when we arrived we had to find a taxi to drive another 48km to Doi Inthanon. We asked taxi drivers for a few hours and walked back and forth along the road trying to find someone to take us. What we found out is that you have to rent a taxi beforehand or go with a tourist group, otherwise no one will take you.

After all our excitement, we bought some ice cream and snacks and headed back to Chiang Mai. That afternoon I got a 2 hour massage and ate dinner with my friend's host family as well as visited Wat Srisuphon, "The Silver Temple." Its a temple made out of silver, the only one in Chiang Mai, and the monks there make silver products you can buy.

Overall, the night wasn't too bad.
