Try Try Again
So after my horrible first attempt at running I figured I'd try again. After all I'm not a quitter and I probably have enough pride within for my entire family. The next night when I went out I ate light and my Thai sister and brother wanted to come. It was dark outside but I was feeling confident and ready to run for 10-15 minutes. We started off really well but my Thai sis is only 7 so I had to go slower and take a few walking breaks.
We round the first bend and pass a bunch of barking dogs. However, they are caged up so its ok I was calm...but then I spotted the first loose dog. A big brown something or other starts towards us from down the street. Immediately my 9 year old thai bro tells us to stop moving. Eventually dog #1 goes away out of boredom.
So we're walking along because now I am too afraid to run and out of the blue dogs # 2 &3 come at us. They were big dogs and they were barking and growling. Not cool. So my little bro finds a palm leaf because apparently rocks don't exist in this neighborhood and tries to blow them away by fanning them. To my surprise it worked.
So we try to find another street to run on when we see a fellow runner being cornered by dogs #3, 4, & 5. He starts to kick at them but these ones are braver than the first few we saw. So i make the kids stop to find some sort of rock to throw and a stick or two. We get armed and ready to pass them but one keeps barking and following us.
So a truck stops and a man comes out and chases the dogs down the street so that we can get by.
We then pass dogs #6 & 7 but luckily they were too lazy to be interested. Needless to say I don't I will be running at night with kids very often. I'm going to stick to riding bikes and maybe a short run on the non-dog infested streets that I have found.
In my next blog I will tell you about the amazing drink called ovaltine yen (meaning iced ovalitine).
