Ovaltine Yen

So one of the great inventions in thailand is that they have taken a drink that had been mostly rejected by american society and turned it into something beautiful. We as Americans rarely drink Ovaltine. Its a drink that for one reason or another has not tempted the average shopper or drinker for that matter. However, here in Thailand it is my favorite drink. For only 10 baht (like 3 cents) you get a drink of pure deliciousness. Try it sometime. You mix ovaltine with a small amount of hot water so that it is concentrated, add sweetened condensed milk, stir, pour over ice, add more sweetened condensed milk and one scoop of sugar....mmmmm

Another thing which is done here that is simply not done at home is Thai people add sweetened condensed milk to everything. Ice coffee, tea, chocolate, ovalitine, etc. It really is a brillant idea although it sounds gross at first because you add your milk and sugar at once.

We are way behind the times.

(as you can probably tell I wrote this because nothing interesting has really happened lately)

Amy, do they have Milo there? That's the Nestle equivalent. Everyone in Hong Kong drank it. You could get it out of vending machines.

Tang is alright..a little sweet. Black coffee is nasty.

They have Milo here but it just is not as good as Ovaltine yen. They also have milk in juice boxes which is never refrigerated but I dirnk it everyday and haven't gotten sick yet.

Shauna I read your other comment and I think that it is dumb. Of curse Grandpa would be ahead of the times..he was always a genius.
