Farang Chat

One of the coolest things that I have been able to do is chat with the monks outside of class and just hangout. I'm surprised I never mentioned this before, but they have a program called Monk chat where foreigners come and are able to ask any questions about Buddhism an the monks are able to practice their English which is great for both sides. So We have office hours where in the beginning, no one came. We were there to correct papers, help with homeworl, or just talk. So since we figured no one came because they did not know we were there, we started a program called Farang Chat. Farang means foreigner in Thai and any tourists are called farang and are also charged more for everything because as everyone knows...farang are rich.

So we have had this program now for about 5 weeks and in the beginning only a few students came but now the room is packed and we usually do not have enough chairs nor enough teachers to talk with the students. Its really awesome to hang out.

My favorite time is when our supervisor tells thai jokes that have been translated into english. they are absolutely horendous. However, since they are so bad we can't help but laugh hysterical until I'm sitting there crying because they're just awful.

Maybe when we go home I will tell a few although it won't be half as funny as a monk with an accent and a lisp telling the joke to us.

love as always
